These videos are a great teacher resource to get ideas on how to get students to effectively search the web. When students, particularly between the age of 9 and 12 are asked to complete a research task, it can become hard to find information and then once the information is found, hard to not plagiarise. This resource give students the skills to research effectively on the internet. (Rockland, 2000).

In primary and secondary schools, there are concerns regarding appropriateness of some of the materials on Youtube. This can be avoided by putting limitation on search parameters on Youtube, but can be difficult to monitor, particularly in BYOD schools. Youtube can be used for whole class learning, individual learning or research. Youtube is also good for modelling content related language and content can be learnt from professionals e.g Bill Nye the Science Guy alongside classroom teachers lessons. (Mao, 2014)  Students should be taught how to evaluate the content of the Youtube videos shows.

                                   Resource 7; Scootle

Scootle is a Federal Government supported site (run by Education Services Australia) to facilitate a social network around resources in particular and the teaching profession in general (Kelly, 2015). It is a great tool to find and share resources in a community of shared users. It links in many ABC produced videos which are useful when teaching history and remain relevant for a long period of time.
